Hey everyone! My name is Wilson Acton and I joined the Whipcord team in May. I’m originally from the “Lord’s Rectangle” – Saskatchewan, and grew up driving a tractor under the large prairie skies on a farm south of Moose Jaw.
Naturally, I wanted to be a farmer when I grew up, which took me to the University of Saskatchewan where I earned a Bachelor of Agriculture with a major in economics. As I was building on my deep roots in the saddle chasing cows, I was also riding three-day event and show jumping horses all around North America (with a stint in South Africa and Australia), and had aspirations to be on the Canadian Olympic team some day! A couple of unexpected outcomes and a few years later, I ended up at a large national firm in Calgary as a Corporate Finance and Mergers & Acquisitions lawyer.
When I'm not busy, my wife and I enjoy spending time at our cabin in Montana, working on our sunburns on the lake, looking for powder stashes on the ski hill and and enjoying the production of our BBQ with a glass of wine! We're also having a blast chasing around our energetic toddler, Oliver, and Bernese Mountain Dog, Daisy.
I’m glad to be getting back to my roots to help grow the Whipcord business as we expand our products and offerings for our customers. I’m looking forward to sharing updates about the exciting new initiatives that all of our wonderful and talented Whipcordians are a part of!
